Two VERTO automotive apprentices from Wyong any Sydney have rubbed shoulders with some of Australia’s fastest drivers in what they have described as an awesome learning experience at last weekend’s V8 SuperUtes event in Sydney.
Third year apprentices at Suttons City Rosebery, Brody Porter and Dylan Moore, were presented with an opportunity to join Team Triton Racing in the pit lane as part of VERTO’s ongoing sponsorship of the team.
Brody and Dylan supported the team over the weekend with a range of mechanical repairs and race car preparation, putting into practice what they are learning through their apprenticeships.
“It was an unbelievable experience – I loved it,” Brody said. “Being so close to all the action and seeing how everything works on race day was awesome.”
Team Triton Racing driver Craig Dontas said the team enjoy giving young apprentices life-changing learning experiences like this.
“Both Brody and Dylan were exceptional. They were motivated and demonstrated a strong work ethic,” he said.
“As always, we are looking for the next talent at Team Triton, and the program alignment with VERTO allows us to work with some of the best talent when it comes to automotive apprentices.
“It’s important we give something back to the industry by placing young up-and-coming automotive technicians in a high intensity, practical environment.”
VERTO CEO Ron Maxwell added, “Providing apprentices with opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge is an everyday focus for the team at VERTO, and there’s no better experience for an automotive apprentice than getting hands-on experience on race day,” he said.
“Unique and valuable learning experiences like this will benefit Brody and Dylan greatly as they progress their careers.”
It proved to be a great weekend for all involved, with Team Triton driver Cameron Crick winning the round.
