As 2016 draws to a close, VERTO is proud to be involved with a new pilot program, which sees job seekers being provided with intense training on a full time basis, providing opportunities to be successful in obtaining employment within the hospitality industry.

Any candidate who successfully completes this program will be given an interview immediately after completion.

VERTO Hospitality Trainer, Robin Marshall, spoke enthusiastically about the program which includes:

  • Nine days of theory in a class room setting;
  • Two days of practical training; and
  • Four days of work placement, with a focus on a food and beverage setting.

The course on offer is designed to deliver a Nationally Recognised Qualification in Certificate II in Hospitality (SIT20316).

For participants like Ila Oitmann, invaluable practical experience has been gained in a major Sydney Hotel, Novotel Rockford in Darling Harbour, working in banquet rooms, setting up for functions, gaining serving experience and breaking down function settings.

The areas of focus within the program are:

  • Bar operations;
  • Customer service and communication skills;
  • Function and events management;
  • Team work; and
  • Hospitality industry knowledge.

In addition to the qualification, candidates who fully complete the program will be endorsed and included in the interview process for ongoing employment, at the ICCC.
