Troy turns life around with VERTO

The team at VERTO is constantly inspired by the ability of our job seekers to overcome adversity, turn their lives around and find employment. Troy Reid, a 42 year old Indigenous man from Cowra, is one such person.

Troy came to see VERTO and asked for assistance finding employment. He was enrolled into work readiness training and a Certificate III in Logistics course as a great way for him to prove to any future employer that he was capable of dedicating himself to a task and completing it. Troy spent a lot of time in the VERTO Cowra office engaging in his studies and successfully completed both lots of training.

Troy’s consultant visited a local Central West employer, Central West Lucerne Products, and discussed his situation with the manager. The consultant explained that Troy was trying to make a better life for himself and his family, he just needed the right employment opportunity to get him started. The employer agreed to meet Troy, and after a successful interview, he started employment in August 2018, where he is still employed today.

Nick Murray, Troy’s manager at Central West Lucerne Products said,  “Troy is the role model of how all employees should be.”

VERTO’s Team Leader, Annie Crasti, said VERTO was proud to see Indigenous men in the local Cowra community do themselves and their families proud.

“Troy’s resilience and ability to turn his life around is a credit to his strength of character,” Mrs Crasti said.

“I’m so proud to have been a part of his journey and to see him grow to be a role model for young Indigenous men in the local area.”
