VERTO Chief Executive Officer, Ron Maxwell, today announced VERTO was proud to be the major sponsor of the Orange All Blacks under 17s rugby league side, who will compete in the Koori Knockout Tournament in Newcastle on Friday, 3 October.
Mr Maxwell said VERTO was proud to support a team that was made up of so many talented players who had promising careers.
“Our Aboriginal support service is all about helping Aboriginal people in regional areas into training and employment,” Mr Maxwell said.
“This is a great way for us to help young Aboriginal people in Orange to achieve their career goals and aspirations.
“Passion is the key to anyone achieving their goals, and it’s clear to me that these players are passionate about their rugby league,” Mr Maxwell said.
Mr Maxwell said he admired the players’ determination to keep young people engaged in sport by creating the Orange All Blacks team.
“Many of the older boys in the team have shown great leadership and are the driving force behind the Orange All Blacks team.
“Their commitment to keeping kids engaged in sport longer in Orange is paying off, with many of the boys currently being scouted by National Rugby League clubs such as the St George Illawarra Dragons.
“It is fantastic to see opportunities like this now opening up for such talented young people,” Mr Maxwell said.
Mr Maxwell also congratulated the team’s support network for assisting the players to realise their potential.
“I would like to acknowledge and congratulate the team’s coach Sandon Gibbs-O’Neill and Jason French from the New South Wales Office of Sport for supporting the team,” Mr Maxwell said.
“I wish the team the best of luck for the Knockout Tournament in early October,” Mr Maxwell said.
