VERTO’s South West Tenants’ Advice Service turns 20

VERTO Chief Executive Officer, Ron Maxwell, today congratulated VERTO’s South West Tenants’ Advice Service for supporting the local community for 20 years.

Mr Maxwell said the free tenancy advice service (available to all residential tenants living in Albury, Bathurst, Goulburn, Orange, Wagga Wagga and surrounds) had helped more than 65,000 New South Wales (NSW) residents with tenancy related issues since 1994 (when generalist tenancy advice services commenced).

"The law can be difficult to understand for tenants, and this much-needed NSW government funded service provides clear advice on tenants’ rights and responsibilities,” Mr Maxwell said.

“The service is also invaluable in terms of supporting tenants in an official capacity to resolve tenancy disputes.

“VERTO’s results over the last 10 years alone are remarkable.

“We have assisted over 36,650 people in total including 11,750 in Orange and Bathurst, 9,000 in Albury, 9,450 in Wagga Wagga and 6,600 in Queanbeyan and Goulburn,” Mr Maxwell said.

Mr Maxwell said VERTO looked forward to continuing to assist tenants across South West NSW to know their rights and retain their housing where they are being terminated unfairly.

The South West Tenants’ Advice Service is funded by Fair Trading NSW, which uses monies from the Rental Bond Board and Property Services statutory interest accounts.
