VERTO is proud to sponsor 21-year-old Paralympian, Jamieson Leeson, on her quest for gold in boccia at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
Jamieson made her Paralympic debut at the Tokyo 2020 games and is excited to represent Australia again, this time in the boccia singles (BC3) and pairs (BC3) events.
“Competing at the Paralympic Games is the pinnacle of our sport, and I’m thrilled to represent Australia on the world stage again,” Jamieson said.
Jamieson, who was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy when she was 18 months old, grew up in Dunedoo, New South Wales (NSW). Jamieson’s sporting prospects were limited as a person living with disability regionally. At age 15 in 2018, a school boccia day changed her life. Jamieson’s boccia career immediately skyrocketed, seeing her qualify for her first international competition the following year.
Since then, Jamieson has won gold and silver medals at the 2022 World Boccia Championships. She also made history with her pairs’ teammate Daniel Michel by setting the record for the longest winning streak in boccia (21 games).
For Jamieson, being a Paralympian is about more than just the opportunity to represent her country. She hopes to use her profile to inspire others who have hopes and dreams like hers.
“I hope I can inspire other people living with disability, particularly those in regional areas, to chase their dreams and reach their full potential,” Jamieson said.
